Rolle Alho holds a doctoral degree in Political Science (2015, University of Turku). He also holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics. The subject of his doctoral thesis was labour market organisations and immigration.
During his academic career (2005-2020), he has carried out several research projects regarding labour markets, in particular labour migration. In 2016, Alho was awarded a three-year post-doctoral research fellowship by the Academy of Finland for research on international migration/labour markets.
Before joining E2 Research, Alho worked as a specialist researcher at the Industrial Union for just under two years.
During his career, Alho has conducted international comparisons on migration and labour market issues and participated in international research projects. He has worked as a visiting researcher at the WZB Wissenschatzentrum Berlin, University College Dublin, University of Lisbon, University of Leeds, and other research institutions for about two years.
Since 2007, Alho has given a total of about 100 newspaper, radio, and TV interviews on his research topics to the Finnish and foreign media.
Alho has been a member of monitoring teams for several inter-governmental immigration projects. From 2004 to 2011, Alho was responsible for running the Finnish Red Cross’ language discussion club for immigrants as a volunteer.
